Realme Teases Launch of New Smartphone with Periscope Zoom Camera, Possibly Realme 12 Pro+

Realme is gearing up to launch a new smartphone in India featuring a periscope zoom camera. The Chinese electronics brand has teased the launch of a new flagship smartphone on social media without confirming the exact name and launch date. Speculations suggest that the upcoming device could be the Realme 12 Pro+. This would potentially succeed the Realme 11 Pro+, which was officially launched in the country in July.

Through a teaser post on Twitter, Realme announced the imminent launch of a new smartphone in the country. The tagline in the tweet reads, “No Periscope. No Flagship,” hinting at enhanced optical zoom capabilities. The teaser image reveals a ring-like structure at the back of the device. While the company hasn’t confirmed the exact name, it is speculated that the upcoming handset could be the Realme 12 Pro+. Realme recently launched its first flagship phone with a periscope telephoto camera, the Realme GT 5 Pro.

Additionally, tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) reposted the teaser image, claiming that the Realme 12 Pro+ might be launched at the end of January or in February next year. It is rumored to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series chipset, possibly the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC.

The expected specifications of the Realme 12 Pro+ include a periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B sensor. The handset is anticipated to be positioned in the mid-range smartphone segment, with an estimated price of around CNY 2,000 (approximately INR 23,000). It might be launched alongside the Realme 12 and Realme 12 Pro.

The Realme 11 Pro+ was introduced in India in June with a starting price of INR 27,999. It runs on Android 13-based Realme UI 4.0 and features a 5,000mAh battery, a 200-megapixel triple rear camera setup, and a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC.
