Nitesh Tiwari is bringing ‘Ramayana‘ to the big screen, which is one of the most talked-about projects in Indian cinema. The shooting for the film commenced in March. While Ranbir Kapoor portrays Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi plays the role of Mata Sita. Recently, leaked looks from the sets had caused some disturbance, leading the director to enforce a strict no-phone policy on set. Now, the set is completely shielded from all sides. Apart from Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol will also be seen in the role of Lord Hanuman, while Yash will portray Ravana. Additionally, Sunny Deol has invested a significant amount in the film.
Earlier reports had suggested that Nitesh Tiwari’s ‘Ramayana’ would be released in three parts. The first part would only depict the story until the abduction of Sita, while the remaining story would unfold in the next two parts. However, a recent report from Pinkvilla contradicts this, stating that ‘Ramayana’ will be released in just two parts, contrary to the earlier planning.
The shooting for both parts of ‘Ramayana’ is currently underway. Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi’s portions are being shot at the moment, while Sunny Deol has not yet joined the team for shooting. Considering the scale of the film, the makers are planning to divide the entire story of ‘Ramayana’ into just two parts. However, it’s not common in this business; often, the second part is brought to the floor after the result of the first part. It is also said that the shooting for both parts will be done simultaneously.
According to the report, a significant portion of ‘Ramayana Part 2’ will be shot before the release of the first part. The team has prepared a shooting schedule of 350 days for both parts, which includes combination scenes of actors and solo sequences. The two parts of ‘Ramayana’ will be released with a gap of one year.
Additionally, there are plans to create a spin-off of ‘Hanuman’ after completing both parts of ‘Ramayana.’ The shooting for both parts of ‘Ramayana’ is expected to be completed by December 2025, with post-production work running concurrently. Considering consistency in the actors’ looks, the schedule has been designed back-to-back. After completing the shooting of the first installment, the release date of ‘Ramayana’ will be announced.
Furthermore, an official announcement of ‘Ramayana’ will be made along with a significant audio-visual asset. Hans Zimmer and AR Rahman are composing the music for ‘Ramayana.’ Following the two parts of ‘Ramayana,’ DNEG is planning to create a Hanuman spin-off, which will be showcased as its third part.
