The Tata Nexon has achieved a 5-star safety rating in the latest Global NCAP crash test, conducted under more stringent regulations in 2022. This is not the first time the Nexon has received a 5-star rating, as it had previously earned the same accolade in 2018. However, the recent crash test was conducted under stricter rules.
In terms of adult and child occupant safety, the Nexon has secured the second-highest Global NCAP score among Indian cars, with the Tata Safari/Harrier taking the top spot.
The Global NCAP has awarded the SUV 32.22 points out of a total of 34 for adult occupant protection and 44.52 points out of 49 for child occupant protection. In the front crash test, the Nexon demonstrated good protection for the driver and co-passenger’s head and neck. Adequate protection was also provided for the knees of front occupants.
The footwell area was deemed stable, and the body shell was considered stable, capable of withstanding impact forces. In the side impact test, the Nexon provided good protection for the head, abdomen, and pelvis, while the chest received sufficient protection. Standard curtain airbags and side pole impact protection were noted, offering good protection for the head and pelvis.
The SUV comes equipped with ESC (Electronic Stability Control) as standard, and its performance during the test was acceptable according to the latest Global NCAP requirements. Additionally, seat belt reminders are available on all seats.
The Nexon has demonstrated nearly complete protection for both the front and side impact tests for both the 3-year-old and 18-month-old dummies.
In summary, the Tata Nexon has once again proven its commitment to safety, achieving an impressive 5-star rating in the latest Global NCAP crash test conducted under more rigorous standards in 2022.
