Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the EQG all-electric SUV concept model in India and confirmed that the production-ready version of the EQG will be launched in India by the end of this year. The EQG concept maintains its boxy stance with specific design elements. However, there might be some changes in the production-ready model.
The EQG concept replaces the traditional grille with a 3D star pattern in the front, featuring illuminated elements. It comes with 22-inch aluminum wheels and a roof rack with LED strips. The electric SUV is built on a ladder-style chassis similar to the G-Class, enhancing its off-road capabilities with independent front suspension and rigid rear axle.
Mercedes-Benz claims the EQG will feature a quad-motor powertrain as seen in its concept model. It will have a two-speed gearbox providing low and high-range gearing. The company suggests that the EQG will outperform the AMG G63 in terms of power and speed.
The electric SUV is expected to have a unique feature called the “G-turn function,” allowing electric motors to rotate the wheels in opposite directions, enabling the vehicle to perform a 360-degree tank turn. This feature can be activated through a dashboard-mounted button or paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
In addition to the EQG concept, Mercedes-Benz has also launched the facelifted GLA and the AMG GLE 53 Coupe. The GLA facelift starts at INR 50.50 lakhs, while the base price for the GLE Coupe facelift is INR 1.85 crores. These prices are ex-showroom. Both models receive exterior and interior updates, maintaining the engine configurations of the pre-facelift versions.
