Directed by Sriram Raghavan, ‘Merry Christmas’ is set to release in theaters on January 12. During a recent positive interview, the ‘Tiger 3’ actress talked about her preparation for the role and how Sriram Raghavan gave her ‘homework’ to enhance her character. The actress referred to her co-star Vijay Sethupathi as a ‘class topper.’ When asked if she is being considered for the role of Maria in ‘Merry Christmas’ due to her portrayal of honest female characters in her previous films, Katrina clarified that it is not because she hasn’t played such roles but rather because most of her films have not featured such dramatic characters.
She mentioned that her understanding of the character Maria and the world of the film came through discussions with Sriram Raghavan. He provided her with homework, asking her to write the backstory of her character. When asked if Vijay Sethupathi was also asked to write a backstory for his character, Katrina jokingly responded, “I think he wasn’t asked to write a backstory because I am the class topper.”
