Government Apps: All government apps will have a government badge. Tapping on this badge will show “Google Play verified this app is affiliated with a government entity,” meaning that the app is associated with the government.
Identifying anything in this era of superfast internet and deepfake technology has become very challenging. From mobile apps to people’s fake profiles, everything is being fabricated. There is an abundance of fake apps on the app store. To counter this, the government has tightened its grip. Now, government apps will have special labeling to help identify them.
For this purpose, the government has partnered with Google, under which Google has introduced a new feature. With the help of this feature, it will be easier to identify whether an app is government-affiliated or not. Google will label government apps and provide detailed descriptions.
After the new update, all government apps will come with a government badge. Tapping on this badge will show “Play verified this app is affiliated with a government entity,” meaning that the app is associated with the government.
This will make it easier for users to distinguish between government apps and fake ones. It is worth mentioning that in recent months, cases of voice cloning have been on the rise. There are many apps that have similar names to government apps.
Google has stated that government badges have been applied to around 2,000 apps in countries like Australia, Japan, Canada, Brazil, India, Britain, and the United States. In India, these badges can be seen on apps like Digilocker, mAdhaar, NextGen mParivahan, and Voter Helpline.
