Google CEO Sundar Pichai emphasized integrating the company’s platforms with artificial intelligence (AI) during this year’s Google I/O event held at Mountain View’s Shoreline Amphitheater. Pichai mentioned the word “AI” 121 times during his speech, highlighting Google’s forward-looking AI plans. Google’s annual software-based event, Google I/O, attracts developers and technology experts from around the world. The event unveiled several AI products, including Gemini 1.5, which introduces AI support in Gmail, Imagen 3, and scam call detection. Additionally, Google is preparing to release Android 15, with the company soon unveiling its beta 2 version.
Gemini AI and Project Astra
At the event, Google introduced Gemini 1.5 Flash, a lightweight model designed for fast and cost-efficient performance compared to the pro model. Both models support up to ten million tokens. Gmail will receive a new feature called “Question and Answer” powered by Gemini AI, simplifying response retrieval directly from the inbox.
Imagen 3: Features and Functionality
Imagen 3 is an AI model that promises detailed photo rendering with enhanced natural and human-like detailing. The sign-up for Imagen 3 is already available on ImageFX, primarily targeting developers and enterprise customers.
Google Ask Feature
Google Photos will integrate with Google’s Gemini AI-powered search engine, set to launch by July this year. This feature enables users to search their Google Photos collection using natural language questions, aiding in content and metadata discovery.
Google AI: Ensuring Your Safety
Google’s AI features aim to protect users from scam calls. If a scammer attempts to manipulate or engage in banking fraud through calls, Google will issue a warning, identifying potential fraud calls and alerting users.
Google’s Seven Principles for AI
Google has established seven principles for user convenience, including societal benefit, avoiding creating or exacerbating biases, ensuring safety through design and testing, accountability to users, adding privacy-related principles, maintaining scientific excellence, and making AI available for these principles’ implementation and completion.
Android 15 Features
After the Android 15 update, users will have the option to use any application in full-screen mode. Additionally, users can archive apps they don’t use instead of deleting them. After this process, there will be no need to delete the app. Android 15 will also support Braille displays for blind users. Furthermore, network security will improve compared to the past. Currently, Google has not released Android 15, but the company will soon announce its beta 2 version.
