“Israeli Attack in Rafah Refugee Camp Sparks Outrage, Bollywood Stars’ Silence Criticized”: In the southern city of Rafah in Gaza, Israel carried out airstrikes on a refugee camp, resulting in the deaths of around 45 people, mostly women and children. This attack has once again stirred anger worldwide against Israel. Many countries have condemned this attack, and people in Pakistan are also angered by it. Pakistani actresses like Mahira Khan and Mawra Hocane have expressed their frustration on social media regarding the attack. Meanwhile, Pakistani actress Sahifa Jabbar Khattak has criticized the silence of Bollywood stars regarding the deaths in the Israeli attack in Palestine.
Sahifa, known for her roles in hit dramas like “Beti” and “Bhool,” took to her Instagram story to share a note where she criticized the silence of Bollywood celebrities on the deaths caused by Israeli attacks. She wrote, “While everyone in the West is blocking Hollywood celebrities and influencers, what is Bollywood doing? Our neighboring country, where we eagerly work and talk highly about in interviews. None of them have said anything about the ongoing massacre.”
She further wrote, “Please stop wishing them happy birthdays and reading praises about them. Their government has banned us from working for them.” She added that despite offering good roles, they haven’t been offered much work.
According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, nearly 36,000 Palestinians have died in Israeli attacks so far. Following the destruction everywhere in Gaza, Israel has now initiated attacks in Rafah. Recently, Israel attacked a refugee camp in Rafah, resulting in the death of 45 people.
Is Bollywood Really Silent?
There has been a long-standing dispute between Israel and Palestine. Last year, hundreds of Israelis were killed in Hamas attacks on October 7. Since then, Israel has been taking continuous actions against Palestine. There was widespread condemnation against Hamas after the October 7 attacks. Since then, many celebrities around the world have been speaking out against Israeli actions.
In Bollywood, many stars have been continuously speaking out against Israeli actions. Among those who consistently speak out against attacks on Palestine are Richa Chaddha, Swara Bhaskar, Ali Fazal, and Sonam Kapoor. Several stars also condemned the recent attack in Rafah. These include Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Swara Bhaskar, Dia Mirza, Gauahar Khan, Ali Goni, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Radhika Apte, Nakul Mehta, and Dilkar Salman.
While many stars openly raise questions about the deaths of innocents and criticize Israel’s actions, A-list Bollywood actors refrain from saying anything about such matters. Big stars have so far not said anything about the recent attacks.
